About The Spine Center

The Spine Center, Lansing Neurosurgery's sister facility, is an "all in one" option for pain treatment. Board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians collaborate with physical therapists and massage and acupuncture providers to offer rehabilitation, sports medicine, physical therapy, pain management, spinal injections, massage and acupuncture.

The Spine Center features 10,000 square feet of physical therapy space, a large heated pool for aquatic therapy and an on-site pain treatment facility where our physicians perform injections to alleviate pain and conduct EMG tests to diagnose nerve injuries and disorders.

Biography

Jon Chester loves working with people who have spine related pain problems and is very familiar with the spine and its treatment. He says, "A lot of problems originate in the spine and people often aren't even aware of the source." Therefore, it made sense for him to join The Spine Center in December of 2007. Jon first came to Michigan for a position as a gymnastics coach. After a few years of coaching, Jon decided to pursue a career in physical therapy. His prior skills and experience, along with a desire to provide a valuable service to so many people, made physical therapy a great fit for him. Jon has been a physical therapist since 1996. He is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics, completed a program in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy and is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Bowling Green State University, and his Master of Physical Therapy Degree at Oakland University. The best part of being a physical therapist for Jon has been, "Helping people who are frustrated with their condition and being able to turn things around for them. I enjoy discerning the mechanical diagnosis and providing alleviation of pain." He thinks The Spine Center is a real benefit for Michigan because, "People shouldn't have to go to Mayo to get great quality care."

Jon and his wife have five children; three girls and two boys ranging from 14 to 2 years old. He enjoys playing with his kids, coaching soccer, personal training, and gardening.
